I know. I can’t believe its that time of year again already either. The Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2012 kicks off this weekend, and I am sure it has been met with much enthusiasm. As one of the most sought-after events at Disney, people come from all over the world to sample the unique mix of cuisine.
As a local (living only 6 miles away in Celebration, FL), I have attended every Epcot Food & Wine Festival since 2003, and I am always excited about it. The food is wonderful and the drink offerings are never a disappointment either. On a normal day, Epcot has some of the best food in the area. During the Food & Wine Festival, the sky is the limit. They have food and beverage parings from over 25 different countries.
I mean where else can walk around in one of the most beautiful parks and enjoy everything from a Spicy Hand Roll in Japan to a Beef Empanada in Argentine paired with a Stella Artois in Belgium or a lovely glass of Sparking Pomegranate Kir in France. Make sure to save room for dessert too. The Baklava in Morocco and the Apple Strudel with Karamel- Vanilla Sauce in Germany are to die for. All of the portions are small so you walk around and do a lot of sampling. Food items are priced at $3 and up with beverages starting at $2.
There is truly something for everyone – maybe several somethings. Cheers!
Next weekend, October 5th & 6th will be jam packed with events happening here in Celebration. The Fall is when our schedule of events and celebrations really picks up, and next weekend is just the beginning.
We have the semi-annual Celebration Porch and Yard Sale on Saturday starting at 8 am and going until 2 pm. So many residents participate in this sale, and they will be selling a little bit of everything. From furniture to Disney paraphernalia to clothing, you will see it all.
Also going on this same weekend is Celebration’s Oktoberfest. Leaves will fall on Market Street both night at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 PM. Friday night will have traditional German music played by Dan Witucki & Heimatland Musikanten. They offer an interactive experience with the crowd that features yodeling and sing-alongs. Saturday night’s ‘Rock’toberfest will play host to national recording artist Ryan Cabrera.
There will be activities and entertainment for all ages, so come by and take a stroll around the lake, enjoy some great food, hop on a hay ride, or paint a pumpkin. Parking and admission is free.
We’ll see you there!
The Central Florida real estate market has been on the road to recovery for the last 18 months or so now, and while the news does not always report upbeat information, I can assure you that sales here have picked up tremendously in that small amount of time. The greatly reduced resale inventory has been a catalyst for builders to start new projects or release new phases of existing neighborhoods and developments. With that being said, I wonder how many people out there realize that you need your own representation when purchasing and/or building new construction.
It has come to my attention that most buyers believe that they can just go to a sales center and purchase what they would like from the builder and have the salesperson do all of the paperwork for them. Now while this is true, ask yourself whose best interests does that salesperson have in mind – the builder who signs their pay/bonus checks or you. I think we both know the answer. That is not to say that builder salespeople are conniving or misleading, but they are not there to negotiate price for you or oversee the build process. They are there to sell homes for the builder, so that the builder can make money and continue to real ease new phases. It is so important when making a purchase of this magnitude that you have someone representing your best interests and making sure that your wants are met.
We have helped clients through numerous new construction projects. We can assist you with selecting the best parcel, negotiate the price and added extras, work with your lender, and oversee the building process for you. Currently we are assisting clients with Golden Oak at Walt Disney World Resort, Mabel Bridge in Orlando, and Summerlake in Winter Garden. We can help you take your new home purchase from dream to reality.
In the last couple of years, Winter Garden has seen a large amount of retail growth, and the most notable addition is without a doubt Winter Garden Village located on CR 535.
First off, Winter Garden Village is accessible via the almost-never-congested 429 beltway and/or CR 535 which goes through Disney property. Its a nice 20 minute drive from where we are in Celebration, FL, and it is well worth it. The shopping plaza has pertty much everything you could think of in terms of shopping and restaurants, plus it is very walker-friendly. I felt very safe pushing a stroller through there this past Saturday and the walkways are pretty with nice landscaping. All in all it was a great shopping experience, and again its so close to pretty much everything.
Some of the stores there include: American Eagle Outfitters, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, Lowes, Victoria’s Secret, Party City, and many, many more. There are small boutiques as well as the large chain stores. There are also more places to eat than I could possibly list. Everything from nice sit down restaurants to Chipotle and Bojangles. Take a drive and check it out!

Often times people forget how to be tourists in their own town or even state. Sure we do Disney and enjoy the parks, but there are also lots of natural attractions here in Central Florida and many of them are not only close-by but also inexpensive to experience.
Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont, is just one example of Florida at its natural best. Lake Louisa is actually part of a chain of 13 lakes but the most accessible are Lake Louisa, Lake Dixie, and Lake Hammond. These three large natural lakes offer a great place to fish, canoe, and kayak. The large sandy beach area on Lake Louisa is a great place for a pickup soccer game and picnic or just to spend a relaxing afternoon watching the wildlife. If you are looking for a longer getaway, there are overnight options. They have cabins for rent, campsites, and spaces for RV’s all at very reasonable prices. Clermont offers different topography from many other parts of Central Florida, and Lake Louisa State Park offers an untouched view of that. There are rolling hills, high grasses and undisturbed trees.
With a location only about 2o minutes from Celebration, FL, the park offers a serene respite from the congestion and excitement of the theme parks. On your way back, you can also stop off at the Showcase of Citrus where you can pick your own citrus fruit, see some small livestock, and sample some local honey.
