During this last weekend in July, the five towns of the Champlain Islands, Alburgh, Isle LaMotte, North Hero, Grand Isle and South Hero will be hosting the Festival of the Islands.  Visitors will be entertained by numerous  free events including book sales, retail sidewalk sales, flea markets, petting paddocks (to include llamas and alpacas), garage sales, puppet show, farmer’s market, concerts, art galleries, wine tasting and craft fairs. This is the perfect mini-staycation to enjoy the beautiful Champlain Islands! Breathtaking lakeside mountain view may have you on the hunt for your own piece of paradise in the Islands. Stoweflake 27th Anniversary Hot Air Balloon Festival, July 12-14, 2013

activities_balloon_festivalIt’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s more than 25 hot-air balloons!!

Keep an eye on the sky at the Stoweflake 27th Anniversary Hot Air Balloon Festival, July 12-14, 2013 and you will see why this is a summer highlight!

The festival kicks things off  on Friday July 12 at 4 p.m. you won’t want to miss the twilight balloon launch at 6:30 p.m.  On Saturday earlybirds will enjoy  sunrise launches at 6:30 a.m. and  Sunday, July 14, and a second twilight launch at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Morning launch viewing is complimentary for all visitors. Evening admission to the festival events is $10 (free for children 12 and under).

Attendees are welcome to take to the air; hot-air balloon rides are  $275 per person, plus tax. Reservations  recommended. Tethered hot-air balloons rides may be available for $10 per person. Reservations are not required.
