Maple Syrup is often the first product that comes to mind when people speak of Vermont. There is a long history in the Green Mountain State of the value of the golden goodness in a bottle. Early explorers made mention that maple sugar was sole source of nutrients for the Native Peoples over the long winters.
The natives had it right! Maple syrup is infused with natural minerals such as calcium, manganese, potassium and magnesium. And it’s a natural source of beneficial antioxidants. Researchers have found that pure maple syrup contains an abundance of phenolic compounds. Many of these compounds may benefit our health significantly. What a super-food! Check out the nutritional info.
The process for making maple syrup and maple products is very interesting and involves tapping trees that may be over 200yrs old! Luckily there are many maple Sugarmakers doing all the work for us, so that we can simply buy Vermont maple products.
